What Is Ammonia?

Ammonia is a gaseous compound composed of nitrogen (N) and hydrogen (H), occurring naturally in air, water, and soil. When aquatic animals such as shrimps and fish feed on nitrogen-rich food, they will excrete ammonia waste which is naturally converted to other less toxic compounds through a process called the nitrogen cycle. This biochemical process is pivotal for not only regulating the concentration of poisonous ammonia nitrogen but also controlling the availability of nitrogenous nutrients in marine ecosystems. Many places have also been recorded to have an undesirably high concentration of ammonia nitrogen in groundwater that is harmful to marine life.

How Does Ammonia Nigrogen Affect Aquatic Life?

Ammonia is highly toxic when built up in fish bodies, and this can happen when the ammonia levels in water become so high that marine organisms cannot remove ammonia waste quickly enough and eventually become prone to death.

The initial buildup of ammonia may result in fish gasping for air at the water’s surface and experiencing stress. Over time, poisoning may intensify and cause grill damage, excessive mucus secretion, internal organ bleeding, etc. It is of utmost importance to regulate the ammonia nitrogen levels in the water tank to protect aquatic life.

How to Check Ammonia Nitrogen in Water?

Analyse the ammonia nitrogen concentrations in your water tank using chemical titration and chromatography. Beyond that, many research institutions have also provided ammonia test kits for checking the levels of ammonia nitrogen in water to help prevent fish loss.

How to Remove Ammonia Nitrogen in Water?

Ammonia nitrogen can be removed in two ways: through biological or chemical methods. Each method has its pros and cons:

Chemical Removal

Using methods like MAP Precipitation has some downsides. The procedure is cumbersome and not very efficient. Moreover, it could lead to secondary pollutants like Cl2, which might require additional treatment.

Biological or Natural Removal

Using natural products like AmieGO® for ammonia nitrogen removal is a long-lasting biological method. It does not produce secondary pollution and is particularly effective for water with medium ammonia nitrogen levels, making it a cost-effective solution.

AmieGO® – Eco-friendly Ammonia Nitrogen Removal

AmieGO® is a 100% all-natural, non-additive, no preservative product developed and produced by local biochemists to facilitate the effective and eco-friendly removal of ammonia nitrogen. It harnesses the power of herbs and degrades microbes to eliminate pollutants in freshwater and saltwater to safeguard and improve the health of marine organisms. By lowering the ammonia nitrogen levels, this product helps maintain good water quality and prevents ammonia poisoning, providing protection from aquatic animal diseases.

Suggested Usage of AmieGO®

AmieGO® treats water bodies that are polluted with medium levels of ammonium ion, such as aquaculture or domestic sewage, etc. To use, simply add one EP unit of AmieGO® for every litre of polluted water. The treatment will activate within 24 hours.

How AmieGO® Facilitates The Removal of Ammonia Nitrogen in Water?

When ammonia nitrogen contaminates water, it can distress fish, shrimp, and other aquatic life, leading them to gasp for air. In extreme cases, it could cause internal bleeding. Hence, those raising aquatic organisms, such as fish farmers and owners, must routinely check the water’s ammonia nitrogen levels. By employing AmieGO® EP Balls to cleanse the water, not only can they boost the well-being of aquatic life, but they also lower the chance of these organisms falling ill.

How does AmieGO® Support Aquaculture?

Using AmieGO® aids in decomposing ammonia in water to promote a healthy environment for fish farming. Upon using AmieGO®, in the presence of aerobic conditions, the bacterial strains use organic carbon as their carbon source. They perform nitrification and denitrification processes. Nitrification oxidises ammonia to nitrates, while denitrification reduces nitrate, releasing nitrogen (N2) or nitrous oxide (N2O). The naturally made gel ball casing of AmieGO® provides excellent attachment points for these bacterial strains to enable continuous growth and function, thus ensuring a healthy environment for aquaculture.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What types of water is AmieGO® suitable for?

AmieGO® can be employed in both freshwater and saltwater environments to facilitate the removal of ammonia nitrogen present, protecting aquatic life. It reduces the chances of aquatic life falling ill due to high ammonia nitrogen content. If a water quality test indicates medium pollution levels due to ammonia nitrogen, we suggest using AmieGO® EP Balls to restore the water’s quality.

What ingredients make up an AmieGO® EP Ball?

The AmieGO® EP Ball is created using entirely natural raw materials. It’s the result of dedicated local scientists selectively infusing optimum herbal extracts into the product. Coupled with our degradation microbes, the AmieGO® EP Ball not only offers an environmentally friendly solution for ammonia nitrogen removal in water but also actively supports the health of aquatic life.
